5 of Europe’s best Summer Music Festivals

What could be better than combining your summer getaway with the chance to see some of your favourite bands, mingle with thousands of like-minded people and experience some great surroundings. Here are our five suggestions of some of the best festivals to visit this year.

1- Glastonbury, UK

For many the ultimate performing arts festival. Every year over 130,000 fans from across the world descend on Worthy Farm in Somerset for five days of music, dance, comedy and other performing arts. Whilst warm weather and a lack of mud can’t be guaranteed, a great atmosphere certainly can.

2- Benicàssim, Spain

The Festival Internacional de Benicàssim (FIB) takes it name from the town in which it takes place, on Spain’s Eastern coast. With its enviable beach location, Benicassim attracts annual crowds of over 50,000 pop, rock and electronica fans.

2016 Dates: 14th July – 17th July

3- Sziget, Hungary

Historically a rock festival, Sziget now boasts some of the best line-ups of the European festivals. Held in one of the most picturesque locations, Sziget takes place on the 266 acre Old Buda island in the Danube in Northern Budapest.

2016 Dates: 10th August- 17th August

4- Tomorrowland, Belgium

Only founded in 2005, Tomorrowland has quickly grown to become one of the biggest electronic music festivals in the world with David Guetta, Avicii, & Swedish House Mafia some of the notable acts from previous years at the festival, held in Belgian town of Boom, 20 miles north of Brussels.

2016 Dates: 21st July- 25th July

5- Roskilde, Denmark

Roskilde is a non-profit festival and the largest in Northern Europe. Originally popular with Scandanavians, the line-up and visitors have become increasingly international and it now brings over 150,000 to the town, located in the South of Denmark.
